If someone offered you a fast track to a management position, you'd take them up on it, right?

Or maybe you'd wonder: What's the catch?

No catch here at Level Green Landscaping. We offer a landscape management training program that prepares qualified candidates for a position as an operations manager or account manager.

landscape management training program

Get paid while you learn the ropes of the landscape management business. Then, when you’re done, you’re ready to hit the ground running.

Let's take a look.

Who’s A Good Candidate?

This program is ideal for a recent college graduate or a person new to the landscape industry, says a Level Green branch manager in charge of the training program.

Maybe you studied landscape management or forestry in college. Or you might have a business degree and are interested in account management.

How Does It Work?

The training program is set up much like our internships — which means you’ll get a great, well-rounded look at the entire operation.

Choose the operations manager track or the account manager track, then learn on the job what the position entails, from sales calls and customer relations to writing proposals for enhancements and supervising crews.

Instead of baptism by fire as a supervisor in the field, you learn more completely all the aspects of the job.

The whole experience will last between six months and a year.

Meet Our First Candidate

The first person taking advantage of the training is Marion Anthony. Marion studied aviation management in college and worked for two years in private jet charter sales.

“I’m changing it up now,” he says.

He’ll work on his MBA part time at the University of Maryland while working full time at Level Green in management training.

He spent the first two weeks shadowing team members,  visiting job sites, observing crews, attending management and financial meetings.

Is he getting his hands dirty?

He laughs.

“Actually, they’re pretty grimy right now,” Marion says. He just finished three days working on an enhancement crew, pulling out spring tulips and tilling 100 planter beds to prepare for summer annuals.

He helped tear out dozens of trees and shrubs at a shopping center that were obscuring signage and installed new soil for fresh plantings.

“Being out in the field is not the easiest thing,” Marion says, “but it helps you better understand what an operations manager is looking for when their crews go out on a job.

“Plus, you really can't put someone in an upper level landscape management job who hasn't done this,” he says. “It helps you earn the respect of the crew when you know what they go through.”

He’s taking one day at a time, but looks forward to eventually moving into a management position.

“Level Green is a fast-growing company with lots of new roles and new needs,” he says. “We’ll see where it takes me.”
